Your Vision of Success

I saw this piece recently at Women Entrepreneurs on vision and several thoughts came to my mind as I read throguh it.

It's almost impossible to hear that word, vision, used in the context of leadership or direction and not think of the Bible verse that gets used and abuse so much when the topic comes up. Proverbs 28:19 in the old King James Version is the usualy quote: Where there is no vision, the people perish. Poetry and metaphor, but you're usually left with the impression that if you don't know what your goals are and you don't have a clear end result in mind, you might just drop dead. (The King James Bible was translated in 1611 and advances in our understanding of Old Testamnet Hebrew over the last 400 years mean that newer translations come out considerably different than that old KJV rendering, but the saying has become an English language adage, just the same.)

Maybe a more useful idea is summed up in the cliche' "be careful what you wish for." The article at Women Entrepreneurs talks about the businesswoman who was happy with her business exactly the way it was; she wasn't interested in growth. That's an enlightening perspective. After all, growth can bring severe challenges with it.

Who Owns China's Export Sector?

Andrew Butter took a look recently at US ownership in China's export sector and concluded that blaming China for the trade deficit or for the value of the US dollar against the yuan is, well, circular.In 2007 about 25% of China's exports went to USA; which is about the ratio of FDI investment. I suspect that a large proportion of those exports were US Corporations, or companies de-facto controlled by US Corporations....Butter takes an interestnig look at free trade zones and US investment in China.

In case you do not have a credit history then you have to provide detailed information about yourself and your income. If you have an elaborate credit history then you applying for a new card is easy. You will not require providing additional information on either yourself or your source of income. With an average credit card history some normal information would serve the purpose.

If you have applied for credit card through mail then the company will already have your residential address. However, the scenario is vastly different if you are applying for credit card online. In that case you have to provide all the information including your address to the company. However, it is important that you find out more information on the company. You must check their privacy policy before providing the personal information.

More about the information you have to provide
In the first section of the application form you will have to provide personal information such as your name, address, phone number, and email address. Some of the application forms also require your social security number. Without the social security number the company will not be able to verify any information on the account holder. If they are unable to verify the information then you might not obtain your credit card. The social security number is the easiest way to use for identification purposes. If you do not have clean credit history then you might require a cosigner who will have to sign the application.

The next set of information mostly is mostly related to your income. You will have to provide information on monthly rent, annual income, job description, value of your investment accounts, earlier credit card balance, and outstanding debts. Only after providing all these information you can receive your credit card.

Of course, for them the issue was complicated by our society's views of male-female authority.While adding your husband to the payroll may help him get affordable health insurance once his COBRA benefits run out, making him your employee may stir up a hornet's nest of problems that could disrupt your marriage as well as your business.

For one, your husband may never feel like his own man as long as he's working for you-and your employees may start to resent him, too....I found the question interesting in part because I worked for my wife for 15 months. It wasn't an entrepreneurial setting. I don't think it had a negative impact on our marriage. But we did see some resentment small amount of from other workers.

Bottom line, the answer depends on you (and your spouse). But in much of the world, entrepreneurial spirit is expressed most naturally through family businesses....

Last February, I reported on MzTek, when they started their first workshop on introducing Wordpress. Now, the London-based women"s media arts organization is upping the ante with their new workshop, Solarbots. For a mere £15, you can build your own solar-powered robot, which includes the costs of the electronics. Although you do need to bring extra ornamentation like fabric or feathers as the site suggests. The workshop is designed for novices, and both men and women can register.
